The BH2C shares its hydrogen development model with a business delegation from Costa Rica and Uruguay.
On 13 October, the Energy Intelligence Center (EIC) welcomed a delegation of companies from Costa Rica and Uruguay. The mission, organised by Bizkaia-BEAZ and made up primarily of organisations linked to innovation and entrepreneurship, was keen to learn more about the ecosystem surrounding energy issues, fuels in general and hydrogen in particular, as well as the specific characteristics of the region and the factors that have enabled some of the most innovative initiatives to be launched.
The delegation was received at the EIC Abanto Campus by Joseba García, Director General of the EIC Foundation, and Asier Madariaga, from the BH2C Technical Office, who explained in detail the work being done by the Foundation and the BH2C, the main activities currently being taken forward, support mechanisms provided particularly by the public sector and future prospects for renewable fuels and hydrogen.
For their part, the companies compared what they had seen with their own experiences in their home countries. In general, despite having a much smaller fuel industry and a correspondingly smaller industrial presence, progress is being made on initiatives focused on the production and use of hydrogen, generally in smaller-scale applications which, for the time being, do not support a potential hydrogen pipeline network, but do include some production projects particularly linked to their great potential for generating renewable power.
