H2SITE secures 3.4 million euros in funding to upscale onboard hydrogen production.
H2SITE has secured funding of 3.4 million euros from Enova to develop HydraNord Power, an initiative aimed at promoting the use of hydrogen in the maritime sector by converting ammonia into hydrogen onboard vessels. The solution will enable the production of up to 1 metric tonne per day of high-purity hydrogen to power fuel cells with a net power output of 700 kW, bringing this technology closer to real-world commercial applications. The project is based on H2SITE’s membrane reactor technology, which integrates the decomposition of ammonia and the separation of hydrogen into a single process, producing fuel suitable for fuel cells. With a modular and compact design, the system can be installed on both new and existing vessels and scaled up by incorporating multiple modules. According to the company, HydraNord Power represents a step towards the commercial deployment of on-board hydrogen production solutions for long-distance shipping.
