BH2C members visit the Calvera Hydrogen facilities in Épila (Zaragoza).
On Thursday 17 September, the BH2C made a technical visit to the facilities of Calvera Hydrogen in Épila (Zaragoza), organised in collaboration with the company itself. The event brought together some 22 professionals from 13 BH2C member organisations, who were interested in gaining first-hand insight into the capabilities of one of Spain’s most experienced manufacturers of equipment for the storage, transport and supply of compressed hydrogen.
The morning began at 10.00 with a welcome coffee, which gave attendees the opportunity to exchange views before the formal start of the day’s proceedings. At 10.30, José Ignacio Hormaeche from the BASQUENEGRGY Cluster opened the institutional session, followed by a presentation by José Luis Fernández Bris, CEO of Calvera Hydrogen, who outlined the company's 40+ years of experience in the design and manufacture of high-pressure systems, as well as several flagship projects in industrial and mobility applications.
This was followed by a guided tour of the facilities, during which the participants were shown the engineering and production processes for storage modules, high-pressure racks and solutions for the transport and supply of hydrogen. The Calvera team, consisting of Alicia Plato, Director of Aftermarket, Health and Safety, Environment and Quality; Alberto Vázquez, Director of Operations; Joaquín Peribañez, Director of Production; and Rafael and Ricardo Calvera, President and Executive Vice-President respectively, accompanied us throughout the visit.
The day included a lunch, providing an opportunity for companies and organisations within the BH2C to discuss potential areas for collaboration and the role played by manufacturers such as Calvera in strengthening the hydrogen value chain. The visit concluded at 15:00, reinforcing the BH2C’s commitment to revitalising the hydrogen ecosystem and promoting projects that accelerate industrial decarbonisation.
