Tubos Reunidos collaborates with Nortegas in the development of hydrogen distribution pipes for the H2Bidea project.
After becoming the first manufacturer in the world to produce seamless pipes with zero net emissions, Tubos Reunidos is now pushing ahead with its strategy to promote the decarbonisation of industry by developing pipes capable of distributing hydrogen. This is being done through H2Bidea, a collaborative project coordinated by Nortegas and supported by the Basque Government and the European Union through the Hazitek programme. The objective of the project is to develop technological solutions for the deployment of new 100% hydrogen distribution networks to promote green hydrogen valleys and industrial decarbonisation.
As a project included within the BH2C, H2Bidea addresses a significant, global and growing business opportunity for Basque industry. It also contributes to improving the competitiveness of Basque companies in a market where competition is increasing daily, mainly due to product development in Japan, South Korea, Germany and the Netherlands, amongst other countries. H2Bidea also contributes substantially to the sustainability and technological development of companies.
H2Bidea began in 2024 and is scheduled to run for three years, after which it is hoped that the 100% hydrogen distribution network demonstrator H2TESTLAB will be available. The project is led by Nortegas and features Tubos Reunidos, Arizaga, ABC Compressors, Orkli, Fidegas and Calcinor Servicios as consortium partners.
