The BH2C cements its position as a European leader in hydrogen at the European Hydrogen Week 2026.
The Basque Hydrogen Corridor (BH2C) featured prominently at the European Hydrogen Week 2026, held in Brussels from 26 to 30 October, with its own stand in the exhibition area dedicated to European hydrogen valleys. The BH2C stand not only acted as a meeting point for companies, institutions and organisations keen to learn about the Basque hydrogen ecosystem and the initiatives being taken forward from the Basque Country, but was also one of the selected stops on the fair’s official VIP Tour, reserved for the event’s most high-profile delegations and representatives. The presence of the BH2C in the exhibition area was complemented by the participation of the Fundación Hidrógeno Aragón / Aragón Hydrogen Foundation, an associated organisation, which also had its own stand at the event.
The BH2C also featured extensively in the event’s conference programme, with representatives from several member companies taking part in sessions on some of the sector’s key challenges and opportunities. Zuriñe Hernández, from EVE, presented the case study “The BH2C and infrastructure development at the Port of Bilbao”, focusing on the development of hydrogen-related infrastructure in the port area. In turn, Arturo Gonzalo, from Enagás, took part in a debate on industrial resilience and technological competitiveness in Europe, whilst Maribel Rodríguez, from Repsol, was involved in a session on measures to reduce risks and attract investment for large-scale hydrogen projects. Furthermore, Aitor Arzuaga, CEO of ALBA Emission Free Energy and chair of the BH2C, was a panellist in the discussion on “SMEs as engines of the hydrogen transformation”, which addressed the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in the hydrogen economy. During the session, he also had the opportunity to present some of the success stories and key milestones achieved by the SMEs within the BH2C. The fair was also attended by numerous BH2C member organisations, both as visitors and as participants in the event’s various activities. These included ALBA Emission Free Energy, Basque Hydrogen, CEIT, CIC energiGUNE, EHU, Enagás, EVE, Hyteam, Nordex Electrolyzers, Petronor and Repsol.
Finally, the importance of the BH2C within the European context was also highlighted in one of the videos produced by the event organisers to showcase some of the most significant milestones in the development of hydrogen in Europe. The video featured several projects led by organisations from the BH2C, highlighting the contribution of the Basque ecosystem to the roll-out of the hydrogen economy and raising its profile amongst the sector’s key European players.
