Enagás calls on the European Union to guarantee demand for renewable hydrogen to unlock new investment.

Enagás has urged the European Union to strengthen the mechanisms that guarantee demand for renewable hydrogen, arguing that the existence of committed consumers and clear market signals is essential to turning the current portfolio of projects into real investments. The company believes that, as well as boosting supply and infrastructure, Europe must focus on creating the necessary conditions to stimulate the consumption of hydrogen in hard-to-abate industrial and transport sectors. According to Arturo Gonzalo, CEO of Enagás, securing demand is one of the keys to enabling the financing of large-scale projects and accelerating the development of the hydrogen value chain. These statements form part of the European debate on the measures needed to consolidate a competitive hydrogen market and to deliver Europe's targets of decarbonisation and energy independence.
