The Somorrostro Vocational Training Centre hosts the 7th meeting of the Production Vertical of the BH2C and showcases its facilities.

The 7th meeting of the Production Vertical of the BH2C was held on Tuesday, 14 April, at the Somorrostro Vocational Training Centre. The meeting of the Vertical, led by Enagás Renovable and Petronor, brought together 27 people from 18 member organisations.

Javier Perea, from Petronor, began the day by running through the latest developments in the projects and initiatives being taken forward in the Vertical, as well as the most relevant regulatory developments in the field of renewable hydrogen production over recent months. Jose Miguel Bermudez, from the International Energy Agency (IEA), then explained the agency’s forecasts regarding the future of green hydrogen production and the manufacture of electrolysers worldwide. Following this, Fernando Diez-Heppe, from Petronor, provided an update on Petronor’s 100 MW electrolyser at the Muskiz refinery, where construction has already begun. The electrolyser is due to come online in 2029.

After the coffee break, Lucia Mendizabal, from Tekniker, spoke about the latest developments in the IRAUNKOR project, the aim of which is to gain an understanding of the degradation mechanisms of electrolysers and to develop solutions to minimise them. Finally, Javier González spoke about Quantum Mads’ inference, response and operational integration systems for optimising the control of green hydrogen production plants.

At the end of the day, those attending the event were shown around the facilities at the Somorrostro Vocational Training Centre, which features an electrolysis system for training its students in the green hydrogen sector, as well as a GPU cluster.
