Petronor takes part in the Finance panel discussion at the H2A Symposium in Amsterdam.
Aitor Arzuaga, General Manager of Alba Emission Free Energy, a subsidiary of Petronor, has taken part as a member of the Finance discussion panel at the annual Hydrogen to Amsterdam (H2A) Symposium, held on 19 June. The panel of experts also included Dolores de Rooij, CFA at Invest-NL; Maarten Moolhuysen, Director of Hydrogen at Essent; and Johannes C. Frevel, Head of Strategy at Hydrogenious.
The panel focused on a key challenge for renewable hydrogen projects: financing. Variability in legislation, the perceived gap between the cost of hydrogen and the willingness to pay by potential offtakers, and the reluctance of financial institutions to accept risk are just some of the factors that can impact the bankability of projects throughout the supply chain.
During the round table, speakers analysed in detail the existing challenges in financing renewable hydrogen projects, the role of public and private institutions, effective instruments to bridge the gap between cost and willingness to pay, the financing conditions that projects must meet and how to stimulate FIDs throughout the supply chain.
