Petronor leads a renewable fuels hub set to mobilise 250 million euros of investment over the next three years.
Mikel Jauregi, the Basque Government Minister of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability, has presented the ‘Renewable Fuels Hub’ Transformative Project at the Energy Intelligence Center (EIC). The project, the fourth industry-based initiative launched under the Euskadi-2030 Industry Plan and led by Petronor, will bring together the Basque Country’s existing technological, industrial and scientific capabilities to drive the development of renewable fuels. The objective of the newly established hub, based at the EIC, is to bring forward multiple technologies simultaneously and to provide testing and demonstration facilities that reduce risks and accelerate the transition to competitive solutions. This will involve an initial investment of approximately 250 million euros over the next three years, around 85 million of which will be allocated to R&D and technology development activities. Fifty-one companies and four technology centres of the Basque Network for Science, Technology and Innovation are taking part in the project, strengthening public-private collaboration and the connection between knowledge, industry and the market.
