Nortegas promotes energy efficiency and the use of renewable gases by fitting Bioboilers in 86 new homes in Vitoria.
Nortegas and Innova Proyectos Inmobiliarios XXI, a leading property developer in the Basque Country, have signed a partnership agreement to promote the fitting of state-of-the-art gas boilers in new-build homes using Bioboiler technology. These heating systems offer greater energy efficiency, lower environmental impact and are designed to run on renewable gases such as biomethane and green hydrogen.
The project will be rolled out in two housing developments in the Salburua neighbourhood of Vitoria, covering a total of 86 homes. The use of this cutting-edge equipment is a clear and practical step towards the energy transition, as it means homes will be adapted to heating solutions that run on carbon-free energy sources and more efficient energy models.
Bioboilers use condensing technology, which makes them more efficient and sustainable than traditional sealed boilers. This system recovers the latent heat contained in combustion fumes, significantly reducing polluting emissions and achieving energy savings of up to 30%. For future residents, this translates into lower consumption and a reduction in the carbon footprint associated with domestic energy use. Furthermore, these units are certified as “H2 Ready”, meaning they can operate with gas mixtures containing up to 20% green hydrogen.
