Meeting of the Use in Mobility Vertical (29 September).

Last Friday, 29 September, the second meeting of the Use in Mobility Vertical, led by EVE and Repsol, was held at the EIC. At the event, over 50 different research and technology centres and companies that form part of this Vertical discussed the main challenges ahead of the sector for the development and deployment of mobility in the Basque Country.

The session began with an update by EVE on the progress of the Vertical and regulatory aspects related to hydrogen mobility. Petronor-Repsol reported on progress in the H2 mobility distribution logistics project, and presented the H2INTEGRA project, the aim of which is to investigate different technological solutions for the physical and digital roll-out of a comprehensive hydrogen ecosystem for the optimum connection and management of the end uses of hydrogen with production, distribution and dispensing infrastructure.

For its part, ITP AERO presented the Cryogenics, Fuel Cells and H2 Combustion (CRIPICOM) project, the aim of which encompasses the development of technology for the conditioning of liquid hydrogen for its transformation into gaseous hydrogen and its regulation for use in gas turbines; the development of a first fuel cell powertrain demonstrator; basic research into hydrogen combustion; and the modification of an existing engine to run on a blend of natural gas and hydrogen.

MUBIL reported on the progress they have made in the laboratory with two flexible, state-of-the-art test areas: the testing and characterisation of full stacks and complete systems of on-board PEM hydrogen fuel cells for automotive and heavy-duty vehicles (buses and trucks), under international standards and in compliance with European safety standards.

Finally, AJUSA updated those present on the progress made in the development of a hybrid battery-fuel cell propulsion system for industrial electric vehicles, comprising a Fuel Cell Module with its own Stack. The system set-up is intended for range extension applications for battery electric vehicles.

After the meeting, the attendees were invited to visit Calvera's portable hydrogen refuelling station at the EIC facilities.
