The meeting of the Use in Industry Vertical of the BH2C addresses decarbonisation in the ceramics, glass and aluminium industries.

The fifth meeting of the Use in Industry Vertical of the BH2C was held on Friday, 28 March, at the Ikerlan headquarters in Mondragon. The meeting of the Vertical, led by Sarralle and Sener, brought together 29 people from 16 member organisations.

At the meeting, Telmo Chavarri, from Sener, ran through the latest developments in the projects and initiatives being taken forward in the Vertical, as well as the most relevant regulatory aspects affecting the industrial hydrogen sector in recent months. Following this, Salvador Ferrer, from the Institute of Ceramic Technology, spoke online as an external guest to present real-life examples of decarbonisation in the ceramics industry. Continuing with industrial decarbonisation projects, Xabier Lekube, from Sener, gave a presentation on the H2GLASS project focused on the glass industry.

After a coffee break, Isabel Álava, from Ikerlan, provided an update on the latest developments in the H2EAT project, which is analysing the use of renewable hydrogen to reduce the carbon footprint of cast aluminium products for the automotive sector. She was followed by José Mari Canales, from the University of Mondragon, who explained the new focus of the Inter-University Master's Degree in Hydrogen Technologies (MITH). The meeting concluded with a visit to Ikerlan's new combustion laboratory.
