The Irizar i6S Efficient Hydrogen coach continues to prove its suitability for long-distance operations.
The Irizar i6S Efficient Hydrogen coach has successfully completed a round trip between Ormaiztegi, where Irizar has its headquarters, and Briançon, in the French Alps. The total distance covered was 2,500 km, passing through various towns in the Pyrenees and Provence before reaching the French Alps, where the coach climbed more than 1,400 metres. With this test road trip, Irizar has broken the record for the longest distance covered by a hydrogen-powered coach in Europe.
En route, the Irizar i6S Efficient Hydrogen tested hydrogen refuelling speeds at different stations, achieving a full refuelling in less than 20 minutes. The coach also demonstrated a range of 900 kilometres during the test.
During the trip, the coach was presented to various institutions in the French region of Alpes-Provence-Côte d'Azur, sparking considerable interest in the potential offered by this innovative technology. This event marks a key step in demonstrating the potential of hydrogen as a viable and sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuels.
