Hydrogen Europe highlights the Basque Country as a region of interest in the hydrogen sector in the latest issue of The Hydrogen Europe Quarterly.
The Basque Hydrogen Corridor (BH2C) and the Basque Energy Agency (EVE) feature prominently in the latest issue of The Hydrogen Europe Quarterly magazine, given their involvement in the growth of the green hydrogen sector in the Basque Country. In the article, Hydrogen Europe interviews Mikel Amundarain, General Manager of EVE, who reviews the history of EVE and the BH2C and highlights the strategic importance of green hydrogen for the development and competitiveness of Basque industry. As Amundarain explains, public-private collaboration has been essential in securing the FID for major projects such as Petronor’s 10 MW and 100 MW electrolysers, or the two hydrogen refuelling stations announced by IBIL, and he also highlights the importance of achieving an integrated, coherent and viable hydrogen ecosystem to enable the decarbonisation of Basque industry against a backdrop of geopolitical instability. The significant technological and industrial capacity of Basque organisations and companies, coupled with their commitment to green hydrogen, make the Basque Country a leading region in Europe for this sector.
