The H2OP project electrolyser manufactured by Nordex Electrolyzers, now supplying renewable hydrogen to Viscofan in Navarra.

Nordex Electrolyzers is working with Viscofan, AIN and the start-up URAPHEX on the production of green hydrogen at Viscofan's facilities in Cáseda, Navarra, as part of the H2OP project. The initiative is part of the commitment of the Regional Government of Navarra to green hydrogen as a strategic energy vector for decarbonisation and industrial competitiveness.

The joint efforts of the four organisations that make up the project consortium have made it possible to set up and commission both a 500 kW pressurised alkaline electrolyser and a water treatment and recovery plant, integrating them with Viscofan's boiler in a record time of two months. The electrolyser has been designed, manufactured and assembled entirely in Spain by Nordex Electrolyzers.

The new plant enables Viscofan to continuously produce 100 Nm3/h of hydrogen, reducing CO2 atmospheric emissions by 480,000 kg/year. The H2OP project is part of the 2024-2027 call for grants for strategic R&D projects of the Department of Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition of the Government of Navarra, within Challenge 2 AERO VIII, focused on the green energy industry. The initiative has received funding of around 840,000 euros from the Government of Navarra and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
