Solaris to supply 19 hydrogen-powered buses to the operator SWK Mobil Krefeld in Germany.
Solaris Bus & Coach has won a tender to supply 19 hydrogen fuel cell buses to the operator SWK Mobil Krefeld in Germany. The order comprises two models: 9 hydrogen-powered Urbino 12 buses and 10 hydrogen-powered Urbino 18 articulated buses. These hydrogen-powered vehicles are set to form part of the zero-emission fleet in the city of Krefeld, in western Germany, from 2027. The 12-metre vehicles supplied will be equipped with a 160 kW mid-mounted motor, whilst the articulated buses will feature a 240 kW motor. The partnership between Solaris and SWK Mobil Krefeld dates back to 2011. In 2023, the operator ordered 10 Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses, which were delivered in 2025 and added to the city’s zero-emission fleet. To date, over 800 Solaris hydrogen buses are in service across Europe, particularly in Germany, where they are already operating in 18 cities, and the manufacturer continues to receive new orders from operators in the country.
