Repsol set to receive up to 183 million euros for its hydrogen projects in A Coruña and Puertollano.

Repsol has been awarded two grants by the IDAE under the Spanish arm of the European Hydrogen Bank, totalling 183.2 million euros, for the ATLAS and Puertollano Hydrogen Network (P-HYNET) projects. The ATLAS project will receive up to 133.4 million euros to develop a renewable hydrogen production plant linked to the industrial complex in A Coruña, based on a 50 MW PEM electrolyser and with the capacity to produce 60,634 tonnes of renewable hydrogen over ten years. For its part, the P-HYNET project will receive 49.8 million euros in funding to install a 12.27 MW electrolyser at the Puertollano refinery, where production of 22,130 tonnes of renewable hydrogen is forecast over the same period. Both initiatives are aimed at replacing fossil-based hydrogen used in refining processes, contributing to the decarbonisation of the company’s industrial complexes and reinforcing its transformation strategy towards multi-energy centres based on fuels and chemicals with a lower carbon footprint. Taken together, the two projects underpin Repsol’s commitment to renewable hydrogen as a key enabler for reducing emissions in the industry and advancing its energy transition objectives.
