Interview with José Molinero, CEO and co-founder of Kinergy.
In an interview with the Basque Business Development Agency (SPRI), José Molinero, CEO and co-founder of Kinergy, has announced the validation of the company's first 20 kW PEM fuel cell system. The Basque start-up has developed systems covering power ranges from 0.5 kW to 20 kW and is making progress on a 100 kW modular fuel cell for fast chargers and high-powered vehicles. The technology of Kinergy includes all relevant subsystems such as BOP (Balance of Plant), eBOP (Electric Balance of Plant) and the FCCU (Fuel Cell Control Unit).
José Molinero highlighted the company's plan to industrialise its own production line of carbon composite bipolar plates in Bizkaia, with a view to selling its solutions on the European market. At the same time, the company is looking into proposals for collaboration in South America and the Middle East, regions with considerable potential for hydrogen-based energy solutions due to their dependence on diesel and abundance of renewable resources.
The systems developed by Kinergy are compact, modular and highly efficient, capable of powering industrial vehicles, off-grid generators or fast chargers. Likewise, they are also a sustainable alternative to diesel engines and conventional generators. In addition, the technology is scalable and adaptable to other applications such as long-range drones or light vessels, where weight reduction and energy independence are key factors.
