The BH2C presents its initiatives and projects in the new Industry Decarbonisation Forum.

The new Industry Decarbonisation Forum was held on 8 November, coordinated by SPRI and promoted and organised by the DCARTECH Alliance. This recently formed alliance is made up of the Energy Cluster, in representation of the energy sector value chains that develop and offer decarbonisation technologies and solutions, and other clusters such as Aclima (Basque Environment Cluster), AFV (Basque Foundry and Forging Cluster), Cluster Papel (Basque Paper Cluster) and Siderex, which represent the most energy and emission-intensive industrial segments in the Basque Country.

The conference included several speeches, including those of the Basque Minister for Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment, Arantxa Tapia, who defended decarbonisation as an "opportunity for Basque companies". Likewise, Jose Ignacio Zudaire (Petronor-Repsol) and Asís Canales (Iberdrola), as NZBISC members, explained their role in the initiative, promoting their commitment to industrial decarbonisation through the Basque Hydrogen Corridor and the multi-sector initiative for the decarbonisation of industry "Hard to Zero", in the case of Petronor, and electrification in industry as an opportunity for technological and industrial development, in the case of Iberdrola.

This was followed by 4 parallel sessions in which the NZBISC Roadmaps for the Decarbonisation of the Cement (presented by Aclima), Iron and Steel (Siderex), Foundry (AFV) and Pulp and Paper (Paper Cluster) sectors, were presented.

The event concluded with 3 new parallel sessions on the decarbonisation technologies and solutions prioritised in the NZBISC Roadmaps: Energy Efficiency, Heat Pump and Electrification, and Oxyfuel and Hydrogen. In each of these parallel sessions, those present were updated on the value chain identified in the Basque Country for the development of these technologies and solutions, and the main technological challenges associated with each technology and solution were discussed with a view to identifying ideas and proposals for collaborative projects that the DCARTECH Alliance can help to define and promote.
