Repsol and Enagás Renovables, selected in the H2 Valles programme for the development of strategic renewable hydrogen projects in Spain.
The Government has definitively awarded a total of 1.214 billion euros in NextGenEU funds in the first call for proposals for the Incentive Programme for Renewable Hydrogen Production and Consumption Projects, within the framework of the Spanish Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. In total, the H2 Valles programme has allocated the funds to seven strategic initiatives in Andalusia, Aragon, Castile and Leon, Catalonia and Galicia, selected on the basis of competitive tendering.
According to the document published on the website of IDAE, Enagás Renovable and the Danish fund CIP have been awarded 245 million euros for their Catalina 500 MW electrolysis project in Aragon. Similarly, Repsol's 104.8 MW T-HYNET project in Pobla de Mafumet, Tarragona, has been awarded a grant of 104.2 million euros.
The seven beneficiaries of the H2 Valles programme are proposing developments with a total electrolysis capacity of 2,278 MW for the production of renewable hydrogen in 11 different facilities, as the terms of the call for proposals allow for more than one site per cluster if the distance between them is less than 100 kilometres. Overall, it is estimated that the beneficiaries will mobilise investments worth 4.907 billion euros. In addition, the seven projects are expected to create around 9,000 direct jobs and 11,000 indirect jobs during the construction and operation phases. 90% of the electrolysers supplied to these facilities will be manufactured in Europe.
