Second meeting of the Production Vertical (24 October).

The second meeting of the Production Vertical, led by Petronor and Enagas Renovable, was held on Tuesday, 24 October, at the EIC, bringing together 40 representatives from 25 different research and technology centres and companies that form part of this Vertical.

The session began with an update by Petronor on the latest developments in the Vertical, and Enagas Renovable provided a summary of the regulatory changes in hydrogen production over the last few months.

NOVARGI-IET then presented the HyValue project: technology for the recovery of non-recyclable municipal waste for the production of hydrogen, the objective of which is the material recovery of the non-recyclable fraction of urban waste through the production of renewable hydrogen for use in the industrial, domestic, logistics and mobility sectors.

Subsequently, representatives of GHK and H2SITE updated those present on the progress of the green H2 project using biogas from municipal solid waste, the objective of which is to construct a pilot plant to transform the biogas currently generated in the municipal organic waste treatment plant. The plant would produce H2 with vehicular characteristics for use in public passenger transport and municipal solid waste collection trucks, using H2SITE's technical solution for the production of high purity H2 with integrated membrane reactors.

After the coffee break, Petronor reported in detail on the start-up of the 2.5MW electrolyser manufactured by SENER and John Cockerill, producing renewable hydrogen for the first time in the Basque Country and using European technology to do so. This event also marks the commissioning of the infrastructure required for the production and distribution of the renewable hydrogen being produced. An update was also given on the progress of the 10MW and 100MW electrolysers planned for the coming years.

This session brings to an end the second round of meetings of the different Verticals of ther BH2C this year, which has served to share knowledge of the degree of progress of all the BH2C projects.
