MITECO awards 150 million euros in the second call of the H2 Pioneers programme to 12 new renewable hydrogen innovation projects, one of which is the Basque Hydrogen electrolyser.

Twelve new projects for the production and joint use of renewable hydrogen in industry, heavy transport and other hard-to-decarbonise sectors will be awarded 150 million euros from the second call of the H2 Pioneers programme, according to the proposal for the definitive resolution announced by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO).

Within the resolution of this second call, the HyBizkaia EFuels and Mobility at Basque Hydrogen Corridor project, promoted by Petronor, EVE and Enagas Renovables, has been selected. The project consists of a 10 MW capacity alkaline electrolyser for use in industry and heavy mobility, specifically for the manufacture of synthetic fuels and for the regular service of two passenger transport fleets, with distribution by means of two hydrogen refuelling stations.

The BH project, which will be awarded a grant of more than 13 million euros, is noteworthy for its integrated approach to the production of green hydrogen by electrolysis from renewable sources and its consumption in industrial activities and processes at a nearby site.
