Enagás obtains a net profit of 258.9 million euros and speeds up the implementation of its Strategy Plan thanks to hydrogen projects.

Enagás Profit After Tax (PAT) in 2023 amounted to 258.9 million euros. Over the first nine months of the year, the company Strategy Plan continued to be implemented at a higher rate than forecast in its three main areas: security of supply in Spain and Europe, decarbonisation with hydrogen as a key player, and control of operating and financial costs.

With regard to the second area, in September Enagás launched the Call For Interest for the Spanish Hydrogen Backbone Network, an open process to ascertain the needs for renewable hydrogen, ammonia, oxygen and CO2 infrastructures, with the support of more than 90% of the production and distribution companies, associations and research centres linked to the hydrogen sector. Enagás will announce the results of the Call For Interest at the II edition of the Hydrogen Day, to be held on 31 January 2024.

The Spanish Hydrogen Backbone Network is making positive progress in the process to qualify as a European Project of Common Interest (PCI), and has already passed the first technical cut-off point. The final list is expected to be published in early 2024. Enagás plays a key role today as Transmission System Operator (TSO) and in the future as Hydrogen Network Operator (HNO).
